we are joe+Kathrina.
fake laughs and stale poses make us cringe.
we are huggers, laugh out louders, the kind of people who never say no to chips and salsa. old photos, period piece movies, the way nature moves, moody light, human interaction—those are the things that gets our juices going. we see the world differently when we’re creating and that’s what makes our hearts flutter. we don’t take ourselves too seriously, we’re awkward in our own confident way and we embrace you for who you are. we firmly believe fostering genuine relationships with those who we create with is the key to our art. so let’s get to know each other.
technically, we’re technically not high school sweethearts.
how it all started. (Yes that’s us at senior prom both wearing bright white and then fast forward to us on our rainy wedding day)
we met in high school, the summer before senior year. wearing matching navy polo shirts with our names stitched over our hearts and bright yellow visors on our heads. we had joined asb and were off to summer camp. his first words to her were poking fun of her for being too quiet (joke was on him!), and she was not amused. somehow from that a wonderful friendship started. it wasn’t until after graduating high school we officially became a couple.
we made it through college and while trying to find our footing in adulthood and starting careers (and being unhappy) we looked towards photography. borrowing a friend’s dslr camera, we took a family trip to kathrina’s motherland, the philippines (and joe’s first out of the country trip), where we took photos of every plant, ant, and person.
the photos were terrible.
we were hooked.
little bits
about us.
we got married up north outside in the woods while it rained on our heads.
a year after we got married we adopted a german shepherd mix pup and named him lloyd christmas.
our family grew in november 2023 when we gave birth to our daughter cora. happy to say we really lucked out in the dog and kid department.
coffee black. whiskey neat.
mountains, desert, beach—in that order.
the bear, got, seth meyers are instant watches. with schitt’s creek, the office, friends on heavy rotation in between.
texas born (him).
philippines native (her).
somehow we both ended up in orange county and often dream of living elsewhere.
we love being homebodies cooking meals, gardening, and playing gin rummy—but threaten us with a good time and we are there. creating new adventures camping and taking road trips are always a good idea.
this is joe.
he is a Star Wars nerd but please don’t call him that. he gets more hair compliments than his wife. despite what his skin color may say he is half Mexican. born in Texas, he swears he had a southern accent once. Florence + The Machine to Rage Against the Machine. enjoys craft beer and making ceramics. he has a psychology degree and works with special needs children. scrolls through online estate sales on the regular. you can often find him at car shows with a big goofy smile on his face.
this is kathrina.
don’t let her boisterous laugh fool you, she is the introvert between the two. you’ll never see her nails without polish. she frequents libraries and prefers snail mail over text. she has no sense of smell but will sniff things like she does. often overheard saying “i need more plants”. december 26th is her least favorite day. she loves board games but one time she turned over a game table after losing (it was a joke!) and now her husband gets nervous when she plays with others.
double the fun.
husband and wife photographers.
his and her styles.
although we learned photography alongside each other, teaching ourselves and learning from one another, we have both grown to hone in our individual styles while cohesively working together.
joe is the more technical, quiet one, the one to remind you to breath, the one to take a step back and get a different angle. kathrina brings in the vision, the drama, she gets in close and will be the first one to break in laughter. together we balance each other out, quietly in sync, our individual styles come together harmoniously. we each see things beautifully different but together are always moving, looking for ways to play with light, to bring out your personality, getting you comfortable and capturing your essence. we bring a lot of energy and put ourselves out there in order for you to open up to us. together we’re better.
