Balboa Park Engagement Session

From museums to a desert garden and bright bougainvillea.

When we think long enough somehow there seems to always be an invisible string that ties us to our couples. Sometimes it’s easy, like this one, a real personal one. Niece of an angel, a long ago friend who I went to middle school with. First met Jenna when she was only a teenager (maybe younger? but we don’t need to make ourselves feel older), still figuring out life, looking up to her aunt, her mom. A bright smile on her face that was both strong and unsure of what lay ahead. Fast forward to now, a full grown adult in love with a boy from Minnesota, planning a wedding. One of our first questions was what her mom thought of him. But after meeting him there is absolutely no question, Jenna found herself a good one. 

We started off bright and early at Balboa Park, when it was only people leisurely sitting and drinking their coffee or walking their dog through the “park”. Let’s be clear, Balboa Park is more than your regular neighborhood park. There are multiple museums, botanical gardens, fountains, theaters, so much to see and walk through. For this session we focused on three main areas: The Museum of Us, Organ Pavilion, Desert Garden, and stopping in between if a spot called out to us, including the parking lot which had bright bougainvillea blooming beautifully. Always suckers for bougainvillea.
