Film and Polaroid

this here is for the nostalgic.

I remember back in grade school carrying around a disposable camera for times like 4th grade Outdoor Ed and last days of 6th grade. I remember keeping track of how many exposures I had left and using them up on random photos just so I could get the photos developed as soon as possible. I remember dropping off the film at Costco and checking the box for duplicates on the envelope. Then later going back again, walking straight to the pick up box where they organized the envelopes by last name. It was the most exciting opening the sticky backed envelope flap to find another envelope inside where all the photos were. I remember showing them to my mom and her telling me to make sure I wrote on the back. Like I would forget my favorite part—sitting down to write on the back of each photo the date, where it was, and who was in the photo. In high school my friends and I would make sure to share duplicate prints, including Joe who would always print his photos matte finish and size 4×8 (whyyyyy?!)

Film is both exciting to use and nerve racking for us because you just never know how it’s going to turn out, especially for amateurs like us. But we love the forced slower pace it gives us. And the anticipation of how it all looks after is always so worth it. The look of film can never be replicated and there’s just something about looking at the prints that knock at the memory bank a little louder.

Last year we quietly added add on options of film and polaroid to our packages and were delightfully surprised at how many people were excited about it! We had always used our film cameras before, mostly for us, but officially opening it up has been such a bonus to our digital photos for our couples, and us. We are far from film photographers but we’ve been having a lot of fun with it.
