Houdini Estate Wedding

Adam+Diana

There are some couples that we meet who we are instantly enamored with. Enter Adam and Diana. They’re like the epitome of fun wrapped up in quirky with a chill cool vibe. None of that makes sense but that’s how much of a unicorn these two are. Then you hear them talk about how they met and describe how they feel about one another and suddenly you’re in a puddle of goo. When we first started talking to these two about their wedding at Houdini Estate there was never any question we wanted part of it or that it would be the most epic celebration.

We should have questioned however if there would be rain in late September in Los Angeles.
Answer: yes, yes that is a definite possibility.

The best part about this wedding was that at the end of the day, after much stress about the rain, last minute changes and so much happening behind the scenes, it was these two that mattered. Their love and their unity. That’s the most important thing.

Now buckle up. This is going to be a long one full of details, inspiration, photos and did we mention photos. At the end you’ll wish you were invited to this wedding.

Adam+Diana along with one of our favorites, Emilee of Tasteful Tatters, planned a wedding at the Houdini Estate full of Cuban flavor with that Old Hollywood vibe. They are both creatives, with Adam being an illustrator he created the sweetest comic booklet for all their guests that was full of his own drawings about love stories while Diana designed all the signs for their wedding (which you’ll see more of below).

Getting Ready at The Houdini Estate

On the property of The Houdini Estate there is a main house where Diana and all her girls got ready at. While right next to the house is the “Monkey Room” where Adam got ready at. So their morning was pretty much spent getting hair and makeup done and looking out the window watching the rain fall. Which sounds picturesque any other day except on the day you plan on having a complete outdoor wedding.

Man’s best friend(s). Adam couldn’t do this day without having his two best furry pups with him. They spent their morning in the room with Adam and even stood by his side during the ceremony.

The rain definitely brought on a lot of stress and worry for everyone but thankfully for Diana she was surrounded with so much love and support. Between her four bridesmaids and two junior maids she decided to have her “most calming friend” to help her get dressed.

Diana’s dress was a dress. It was a custom dress from Lace & Liberty Bridal, adding her own personal touches with a vintage gold belt and caplet. It all came together so beautifully.

Since only one of her girls helped her get dressed, Diana made quite the entrance showing off her final look to everyone. Look at their faces, they were hooting and hollering and just so excited.

A Non-First-Look First Look

What is that even haha. These two decided to keep things a little traditional by not seeing each other before the ceremony for a first look but they knew they’d need to hear from each other = a non first look first look (we made that up. obviously, it’s not even clever). Since it was still raining outside we set up a little wall between the two so they could pass notes, hold hands and have Adam make Diana laugh and calm the nerves.

Wedding Ceremony at Houdini Estate

Literally miiiinutes before the ceremony was set to start the rain finally stopped.

They rented a classic mustang for Adam to arrive in for the ceremony. Can you get any more cool.

Diana gifted each of her girls with a fan from Spain and we loved the simplicity of it. The flower girls walked down blowing bubbles.

Portraits at Houdini Estate

While all the guests went upstairs to the Mosaic Terrace area to enjoy cocktail hour, we stayed back in the lower area at the Waterfall Plaza for all the photos.

Wedding Details

houdini estate clock escort card idea

The escort cards were actual luggage tags that had cute sayings embossed on one side.

Going with that, the tables were named after a different country that meant something to either Adam or Diana or both and it included a story behind it. The textures at each table are divine. With the greenery, cigar boxes, wicker chargers and gold accents, everything looked so good together.

After Wedding Photos at Carneys

A lot of firsts happened at this wedding. Including taking more photos as soon as the wedding ended. When they mentioned this idea to us, heading straight to Carneys after the grand exit, we were a hundred percent in. So as soon as Adam+Diana walked through the sparklers they went straight into our car and we all drove together to Carneys – the one place Adam could get a vegan burger and they could share a snack and some time together before heading back for their after party. It was perfect.

We always say every setting and time allows for a different mood – like photos before the ceremony is always different from after the ceremony – which is why we always schedule out multiple slots throughout the day with just our couple so that we’re sure to capture those feelings. And you can see just how much fun these photos turned out. The day was done, it was a long one and they’re finally married, the rain was behind them and we’re just so honored that they we were part of this time they had together…with us. It was the perfect ending. Well, then they jumped into the pool. That was the perfect ending.
