Big Bear Engagement Session

We were originally set to do their engagement session in Joshua Tree. But as the date came up closer, looking up the weather, we found that the desert heat decided to linger a little longer and was forecasted to be over 100 degrees. So we pushed the session back a couple weeks. The week of we opened the weather app with fingers crossed but found the desert still looking a little too toasty. Rather then continue to change dates we went back to square one and started brainstorming other location options for these two.
And the choice was: Big Bear!
Honestly, we were pretty excited they went with Big Bear for their engagement session. And as we drove up the mountain feeling the cooler weather against our skin being reminded leaves really do change for Fall, we were finding ourselves feeling at home. The trees were just the right shade of green, the light hit just right and we had such a good time with these two.
When we first got Amanda’s email inquiring about shooting her wedding we did a little dance. You see, we met Amanda a few years ago when we photographed her big brother’s wedding (and engagement session too). She was also a bridesmaid and just the sweetest, she may not remember this but I remember tucking in her dress tag and complimenting her dress. We probably even met Chris at that wedding without realizing years later we’d all be on top of the mountain laughing together. Even with our seven degrees of separation it’s always warming to create a genuine connection together and quickly becoming friends within minutes.
Amanda has this sweet, quiet demeanor about her, calming Chris down when he gets too excited with his jokes while also fully embracing his shenanigans. This balance between the two is why they work. Why they complement each other perfectly and fit just right. And watching their walls come down in front of us was the most fun to experience.
We can’t wait for their wedding next year. There is already a Plan B option set up and if it’s anything like this Plan B engagement session, well we know everything is going to work out just as it should.
